THE OHSMS POLICY
The policy must be the driving force for the management system which ensures that the OHSMS performance of the organisation is improved.
The policy must reflect the overall concerns of the company and be appropriate to the type and associated aspirations and standing within society. If the policy contains many imprecise words and lack of commitment, the personnel within the organisation will believe that management do not really have the interest in improving the performance of the company.
Top management must have clearly defined the policy and must be capable of being understood by internal as well as all interested parties, especially regulators. It should be capable of being able to stand up to close scrutiny by these bodies.
